Welcome to StoryVeda Kids ("StoryVeda", "we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of your family, especially your children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the StoryVeda Kids mobile application ("App").

By using StoryVeda, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. About StoryVeda

StoryVeda is a children's bedtime story application designed for Indian families. The App generates personalised AI stories, provides guided meditations, affirmations, and sleep sounds for children aged 3–12. Parents create an account and set up child profiles to personalise the experience.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

• Account information — email address or phone number used to create your account

• Child profile information — child's first name and age (used only to personalise stories)

• Voice recordings — if you choose to record a custom narrator voice, the audio is stored securely

• Goodnight Love Notes — voice or text messages recorded by parents for their children

• Gratitude journal entries — text responses entered during Gratitude Practice sessions

• Story preferences — themes, languages, characters chosen during story generation

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data — stories read or listened to, session duration, features used

• Device information — device type, operating system version, app version

• Reading progress — how far through a story a child has listened

• Language preferences — selected language for stories and narration

3.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect the full name, date of birth, school, location, or any government ID of any child

• We do not collect financial information (payments handled by Google Play / Apple App Store)

• We do not collect contact lists, call logs, or any data unrelated to the App

• We do not collect precise GPS location

• We do not use facial recognition or biometric data

4. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information only to:

• Create and maintain your account

• Generate personalised bedtime stories with your child's name

• Remember your child's reading history and progress

• Recommend age-appropriate content

• Play custom family voice recordings as narrators

• Deliver Goodnight Love Notes at the end of stories

• Send bedtime reminders (only if you enable notifications)

• Improve the quality of story generation and app features

• Respond to support requests

We do not use your information for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it for any commercial purpose.

5. Children's Privacy

StoryVeda is designed for use by parents on behalf of children. We take children's privacy extremely seriously and comply with applicable laws protecting children's data.

• We never directly collect personal information from children

• All account creation and data entry is done by parents or guardians

• Child profiles contain only first name and age — the minimum needed to personalise stories

• We do not allow children to independently create accounts

• We do not show advertising to children

• We do not use children's data for profiling or targeted marketing

• Parents can delete their child's profile and all associated data at any time

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@thestoryveda.com and we will delete it promptly.

6. Data Storage and Security

• All data is stored securely on Supabase servers with industry-standard encryption

• Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS

• Voice recordings and audio files are stored in secure cloud storage (Supabase Storage)

• We use access controls to ensure only authorised systems can access your data

• We do not store payment information — all payments are processed by Google Play or Apple App Store

• We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.

7. Third-Party Services

StoryVeda uses the following third-party services to provide the App's functionality. Each service has its own privacy policy:

We share only the minimum necessary information with these services — for example, story text is sent to OpenAI for generation but is not linked to personally identifiable information.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With service providers listed in Section 7, solely to operate the App

• If required by law — to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or government request

• To protect safety — if we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm to a child or other person

• With your consent — for any purpose you explicitly agree to

9. Your Rights and Choices

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and your child

• Correction — update or correct inaccurate information in your account

• Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data, including child profiles

• Portability — request your data in a portable format

• Opt out of notifications — disable bedtime reminders at any time in app settings

• Delete voice recordings — remove custom family voices or Love Notes at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@thestoryveda.com or use the account deletion option in the App under Profile → Settings.

We will respond to all requests within 30 days.

10. Data Retention

• Account data — retained while your account is active

• Story history and progress — retained while your account is active

• Voice recordings — retained until you delete them or close your account

• Gratitude journal entries — retained until you delete them or close your account

• Generated stories — retained in your library until you delete them

When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

11. Cookies and Tracking

The StoryVeda mobile app does not use cookies. We do not use cross-app tracking, advertising identifiers, or any third-party analytics tools that track users across apps or websites.

12. International Users

StoryVeda is operated from India. If you are accessing the App from outside India, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in India or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

• Sending a notification through the App

• Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
